Grid’s Application Process

Grid has years of experience providing great rental housing for great Residents, and we'd love to have you join us!

We are working with neighbors and other landlords in the greater Portland Metropolitan Area to maintain the quality of all our neighborhoods. We want to make sure that our Residents are good neighbors and do not use our rental homes for illegal activity. To this end, we have a thorough screening process. Please review our list of criteria. If you feel you meet our criteria, please apply.

Grid provides equal housing opportunity. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, national origin, familial status, marital status, age, sexual orientation, or source of income.

More details about our screening criteria can be found here.

Please note, this video is a summary and is not intended to be a comprehensive overview of the application process. Additional details can be found below.

Grid’s application and leasing process involves six steps:

When To Apply

We recommend that if you are interested in one of our properties, you act swiftly to begin the application process.

Screening Process Timeline

Be sure that you provide accurate contact information for your current and prior landlord, and your current and prior employers. If, after approximately 48 hours of attempting to reach any of your current landlord, prior landlord, current employer and prior landlord we have been unsuccessful, we reserve the right to terminate our screening process and move to the next applicant for the property.

Applying With Roommates

If you are applying for a property with a group of other roommates, we do not consider ANY application complete until we have received applications, identification, proof of income, and rental history for ALL members of your group.

Emotional Support Animals

If you are applying for a unit with an emotional support animal, assistance animal, or any similar companion animal (collectively “Emotional Support Animal (ESA)”) or service animal, please attach verification, from a qualified individual, of your disability and disability related need for the animal.

Requests for Reasonable Accommodation

If you are requesting a reasonable accommodation, please fill out the attached Reasonable Request for Accommodation form. Please completely fill out the first page and first half of the second page. Once this is completed, please return it to us.

Submission of a completed Reasonable Request for Accommodation form (and your provider’s verification as needed) is not considered part of your application and has no effect on screening of your application.

Please find the link to the Portland Housing Bureau’s Right to Request a Modification or Accommodation Notice Required Under Portland City Code.

Application Fee Refunds

If we begin screening your application and you do not pass or you change your mind and do not want the property, there is no refund of your application fees.

If you are not the first applicant in line for a given property and an applicant in line ahead of you secures the property, we will cancel your application and refund your application fees in full.
